SUN VALLEY RESIDENCE

Tucked into a north-facing slope and perched above the landscape to the south, this low, linear residence integrates seamlessly with the site’s natural topography. At its core, a pavilion-like living space opens to the outdoors through a glass façade and expansive covered patio, reinforcing the connection between architecture and landscape. Flanked by private suites and an attached dwelling unit, the home feels grounded and quietly immersive in its forested surroundings.

An understated north entry leads guests through a threshold wall into a tranquil courtyard before reaching the front door. Sculptural boulders placed in minimalist, zen-inspired garden spaces visually link the north and south sides of the home, using natural elements as subtle wayfinding and artistic gestures. The generous covered patio adjacent to the great room is oriented toward mountain views and designed for year-round dining and gathering.

Throughout the site, informal footpaths wind through curated plantings and naturalized areas, offering moments of discovery and glimpses of the distant Sawtooth Mountains. A highly site-specific plant palette begins with structured monocultures near the home and transitions to native shrubland and revegetated zones, all established using seeds and starts collected directly from the site—underscoring the deep commitment to site-driven design.
