TETON VIEW RESIDENCE

Located near the Wyoming - Idaho border, this 5-acre lot features a new residence, guest house, habitat pond, and trails throughout the property. A primary view to Grand Teton and secondary views to surrounding named peaks are framed by aspen clusters and low weathered steel walls at the front entry, a roof deck focused on views to the east, gathering spaces around the pond edge and curated views from within the building. Mowed trails through the native grasses pay homage to past agricultural use, similar to a well-worn two-track road you may find on nearby ranch land. The entry drive and autocourt dead-end into a native wildflower meadow that provides a sense of arrival, as well as color, texture, and ecological benefit.

A boardwalk connects the east and west sides of the house through a glass connector. Stepping up to the boardwalk from the autocourt, visitors have a clear view of the Big Hole Mountains to the west and view through the building's glass connector to the pond on the east side. Built elements are oriented parallel or perpendicular to this axis. Natural elements such as mowed paths, pond shape and access points, and blurred edges where different types of vegetation meet are much more organic in shape. The landscape experience is comprised of moments of discovery, moments of passive observation, or direct interaction and experience that may shift with the seasons or change over time.
